Volunteer opportunities in West Sussex
We are always looking for new volunteers for all aspects of the Tasty Team project. Volunteers can commit as much time as they like, full training is provided for each role and we pay all travelling and out of pocket expenses.
Volunteer to run Get Cooking Courses or Tasty Sessions
If you like cooking and have an interest in healthy eating, then why not become one of our Get Cooking volunteers? You could run cooking sessions with adult community groups, parents and their children or youth groups. The courses are usually for a group of 5-7 people, two hours a week and each course tends to run for five or six weeks. There is also the opportunity to get involved with one off cooking demonstrations and to run Tasty Sessions in schools. These sessions are usually between Monday – Friday within the school term time.
We provide full training for our volunteers including courses in food hygiene and how to run cookery courses with groups of people. All volunteers will be CRB checked with enhanced disclosure.
Smoothie Bike Events
IMPACT’s Tasty Team attend a number of community and school events with our smoothie bikes. We are looking for enthusiastic, sociable people to run smoothie stalls at these events; making smoothies with the community whilst promoting healthy eating and our Get Cooking courses. These events are often (but not exclusively) at weekends.
I started out as a volunteer for IMPACT Foundation in 2010. I have had fantastic opportunities to work with a variety of groups and have been able to share my knowledge of food and cooking with many others. It has been an incredible learning experience, I was so nervous about my first session; I spent the entire previous day planning. After meeting the participants and getting to know them, my nerves soon disappeared and I had a wonderful time. I think the part I enjoy the most is seeing participants’ confidence grow. I sometimes wonder who gets more out of it, me or them, and would recommend being a volunteer to everyone. It has sometimes pushed me far out of my comfort zone and has greatly built my confidence”.
