Emergency appeal for flood affected people in Pakistan

IMPACT has launched a crisis appeal for victims of the flooding in Pakistan, which has devastated the lives of more than 20 million people.  IMPACT Pakistan, our long-standing partner, is on the ground in the worst hit area of Nowshera, where the situation is harrowing.

In the makeshift camp in which they are working, the stench of dead animals is overwhelming and survivors of the disaster have no food, drinking water, or shelter.  Urgent intervention is needed to protect lives and prevent the spread of disease.

With your help we can immediately provide tents, food and drinking water to the men, women and children who have lost everything.

It costs just £65 to provide a family of five with shelter, and clean water and food for 50 days.

IMPACT’s real strength is that we have trusted local people on the ground who can act quickly and ensure that help is delivered directly to the people who need it.   Our usual stringent monitoring procedures will apply so you can be sure your gift will be put to very good use.

Please help. To make a donation click here.

Congratulations to the Cheapflights team! The Cheapflights' Team

On the 22nd and 23rd May 2010 our friends at Cheapflights walked 26 miles along the South Downs' Way in aid of IMPACT.  Setting out from Upper Beeding in West Sussex and continuing along to Alfriston, the Cheapflights team covered the marathon distance over 1.5 days.

Good luck to everyone taking part!

IMPACT responds to flooding in The Philippines

Devastating flooding battered parts of The Philippines following tropical storms in late September claiming lives, homes and possessions.  IMPACT Foundation Philippines responded quickly and by putting together essential supplies of food, water, household items and medicines to distribute to people in some of the worst hit areas.  Action was also needed quickly to stop the spread of disease which inevitably follows such a disaster from claiming even more lives.

We are continuing to help affected communities.

OLDER NEWS:

Larisa’s ‘Love will find a way’ cycle ride

On 11th July 2009 IMPACT supporter, Larisa Zolotarevskaya, embarked on a challenging sponsored cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats, to raise much needed funds for our Cambodian partner's Centre for Child Mental Health’

The trip totalled more than 1,000 miles and her total ascent was 15,800m - which is twice the height of Mt Everest!

Larisa completed her challenge on 26th July but it is not too late to support her and the ‘Centre for Child Mental Health’, which relies entirely on voluntary contributions.  All the funds raised will be used to provide essential services for vulnerable children with learning difficulties and mental health problems.

Gift of sight from FOCUS Laser Vision

IMPACT is working closely with FOCUS Laser Vision on the 'Eye for an Eye' campaign which aims to restore sight to a person with a cataract in the developing world every time a person has their vision corrected at the FOCUS Laser Vision clinic in London.  So far, the support of FOCUS Laser Vision has enabled IMPACT to carry out 83 cataract operations to help impoverished men, women and children in Bangladesh to see again.  This on-going commitment means that even more people will be given the gift of sight in the future.

Gift of sight from Rayner Intraocular Lenses Ltd.

Rayner Intraocular Lenses Ltd. based in Hove, East Sussex, has once again supported IMPACT's work to restore sight with a generous gift of over 2,000 intraocular lenses (IOLs), disposables and equipment.  These IOLs will be sent to our local partner in Bangladesh where they will be used to replace the cloudy lens in the eyes of people with cataract thereby providing clear vision once again.

Many of the very poorest people in developing countries go blind for want of straightforward surgery such as this.  It is IMPACT's policy to ensure that impoverished men, women and children receive the treatment they urgently need which can prevent a lifetime of needless disability.
